Friday morning was interrupted by call from daycare that power was out. Couldn't get a hold of Shawn, so I drove the 45 minutes and picked up the kiddies. It was a GORGEOUS SUNNY DAY and the ground was drying up. Met Shawn on the road as he was walking to daycare to pick up the kids too. The intersection lights were out so he figured walking was safer (???). No power at home so we went downtown for lunch. Shawn got to attempt to explain to Annaliese as she was clutching the Spongebob DVD case that the DVD player wasn't working because we didn't have power. "What??" she kept asking. I think we got power back around 2:30, after we stopped at the post office for stamps for Holiday cards and photos to Shawn's great-grandma who is recovering from several strokes. I took Annaliese to Marshalls to look for a Yankee Swap gift, only to buy a pair of clearance chocolate brown velvet cut out and peep toe pumps. Oh delicious. Annaliese tried on shoes too, hid under displays and was much to energetic to be contained by a department store. Should have brought her to the park but managed to get her to nap...Saturday, a lovely get-together! Sunday, no answer from Mom-n-Dad so assumed they had no power. Spent the day cleaning, Shawn did laundry and the kids seemed to dump all their toys on the floor. I got yet another nap with The Girl. I'm liking these weekend naps with The Girl, though we both battle for territory on the bed. Speaking of bed, Melanie, the Ikea bunk bed looks like our (inexpensive) solution to getting both kids in one room AND will fit a full mattress! Yay.
