First off, D let me sleep in and brought me breakfast in bed, which was a very pleasant way to start the day. After I got up, I took over with the kids - he wanted to go down to school and bum around for a while with some of his professors, and get started on the reading for his second summer-session class. I took the boys up to Target to get some replacement sunglasses since I finally broke my last ten-dollar pair. What is up with those ugly bug-eye glasses? That was almost all they had! I wound up with some marginal-looking six-dollar shades, but at least I don't look like my mom in the '70s. The Fourth of July t-shirts they had were 75% off, so I picked up a bunch for a dollar apiece.
When we left Target, we stopped over at my parents' so I could check on my mom. She seems to be feeling fine, and the site didn't look bad at all. For anyone who's wondering, this is a procedure that's frequently done as a cosmetic procedure, but not in my family's case. Our eyelids eventually get droopy enough that we start losing our upper peripheral vision. My grandfather's eyes were really bad, and my aunt looks like she has epicanthic folds. Something to look forward to, I guess.
This morning, J was whirling around in the living room with his arms out, saying "I'm a tornado!" The Dude walked in, said, "I'm a tomato, too!" and joined in.
