Well, today I was formally installed as Master of Vortex Oasis. Not a place I would ever foresee having gone to. Being at the head of the parade is not a task I aspire to, nor find comfort in -- I much prefer being the Major Domo or second-in-command. I can make the trees disappear from your path as you march forward, and cover your six like nobody's business. This is much more nerve-wracking, I always feel like I'm in way over my head.

Still, I know it's what the Body needs at this point and I think we can make some definite progress, so I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead and the chance to build on the wonderful work that Brandy and all of the community of Vortex have accomplished.

My thanks to everyone who came out to cheer us on and participate. Brother Doug for his tireless support, Sister Onyieh for setting the proper level of formality and decorum ;-) (It's great to have you back, Sister), Our mass team Dian, Michael, Joy, Charlie & Mike for a lovely and very moving Mass, Our officers for being willing to take the plunge, and the many friends, old and new who came to watch the fun. And thank you to Brandy who raised Vortex from the ashes and made it the vibrant entity it is today. I'll try to be worthy of all of your good wishes.
