So, as part of a new project Shane came up with, I made a song for the fictional town of Riopelle, the place that our currently-unfinished children's book series takes place. It's an old Civil War fort in the hills of Tennessee, owned by a bunch of writers and artists who live and work there. It's like a commune. Anyway they have a bunch of kids and stuff. But even though they hate outsiders, the parents have to run the fort as a tourist trap for part of the year to recieve federal funding for their projects. So this song is like their enticement to "come on down." ANYWAY, this is an extremely rough demo, with pitchy Ted vocals and spare instrumentation and a shitty mix, but I like it nonetheless and wanted to share. Find it
RIGHT HERE. I'll post the lyrics after the "jump," in case they're hard to understand. Feedback welcome/preferred.
Come on down,
To Riopelle!
Come on down,
To Riopelle!
We've got art and stories and crafts and more
you can see a slam poet, or a dead dinosaur
you can go to a gallery and buy a poster
and then run on down and ride the Roller Coaster!
Come on down...
We've got history and a great big cave
you can pet the Wild Firelynx if you think that you're brave
you can take a hike, or eat great food,
just don't disturb the artist 'cause man, that's rude!
Come on down...
Well we've got so much history!
That you have got to see!
The South didn't win the war!
But we'll win your hearts and so much more!
Come on down...
So come on down and visit us on top of the hill
you'll love every minute of it, you certainly will
you can buy arts and crafts, like a ceramic ashtray
just be sure to smoke in the designated area.
We're not Socialists, we just like to socialize
we're not Communists, but we got community pride,
come on down to Riopelle 'cause you'll love
EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!
