Mike sighed. Around him, the high school cafeteria whirled around in its usually loud and chaotic drone. Partially tuned out, it seemed that for a moment Mike and the World stepped back from each other and regarded each other with an indifferent sort of interest. No real attention was centered on the focus of their observation.
"Hello, old friend" Mike thought sarcastically.
Hello, old foe. The World tossed back as it engaged in its complexity. Feel fortunate or insignificant but I have not but thoughts for you today. Mike laughed at the World’s comment.
"I feel glad, privileged in fact!" The World gave a chuckle, barely a hiccup on its mostly undisturbed pattern.
"Well," Mike thought after a moment’s silence, "back to work for the both of us, eh?"
Bemused, the World and Mike effortlessly collided once again, restoring time to its proper position. Edgy and bored, Mike stood and whisked away in search of new adventure. It always seemed like adventure followed Mike around, like a dog on a leash. Though if ever confronted with the metaphor, Mike would say it was wrong. He imagined more of a leaf on the wind. How that applied, no one would ever know…except, perhaps, Mike himself. This of course shows the uncertainty that always clouded Mike and the future around him. The only thing one could ever be sure of was that Mike brought with him a socially electrical charge. He could change the world in ways no one ever imagined and if you saw him role a die on its corner, you’d be less surprised then the first time you ever met him. Everyone remembers that. Everyone remembers him. Not everyone knows it, but that’s why he is so couragous. He doesn’t want to be forgotten. His one and only fear, to be alone. Well, none of us ever thought it could happen, for Mike to feel alone, but like I said, nothing was ever certain with Mike…

This will be the first words to my Fall of Goliath book. What do you people think?
