Weekend Rush!
The amazing recap of Floor Weekend Part 2!
Oddly I have no clue what I did after work Friday. No clue at all. Hmm...
Saturday I got up way too early at 7 or so and went through my email. I compiled a list of places that sell counter tops. Then I left the house to go research counter tops for a while. My intention was to make it over to Springdale and hit National Home Center and a few other places...but that just didn't happen. I did get to check out Lowes and Home Depot. My personal opinion is that Home Depot had the better deal on counter tops. I'm considering either the pressed granite or the actual grantite. Also am debating on whether to get a granite sink or a stainless steel. I really liked the grantite one I saw at Home Depot...the ones at Lowes were UGLY! Suggestions would be appreciated. I did bring home a few squares of the pressed stuff so I could envision. This week I'll still need to go to a few other places to compare prices and such.
Anyhoo after the counter top window shopping, I ran back home to start ripping up the floor. This section involved moving the fridge and stove and also unhooking the dishwasher so that we could get all the old linoleum up. Special thanks go to Jody this weekend for his major assistance with the appliances. Floor scraping and appliances only took 3 hours but Jody and I were both dead on our feet by the time that was done.
Then I hopped my butt into the car and ran over to ARP's place to join Sarah's bacholorette party at about 5pm. Sadly I was unable to do more than eat dinner and do the Mary Kay party. I had intentioned on joining the Dickson Street crawl but that was not ment to be. As I had to leave the tail portion of the Mary Kay part to head home to meet my parents when they arrived at 9pm.
My mom actually told me that I looked good again and was happy that I wasn't looking fat. Sigh! My parents ate dinner and then my dad and I proceeded to grout the tile section from the weekend before. This procedure lasted until 2 am. Whew! Unfortunately they hounded me alot about school and wasting my life again. Somewhere in there I bawled while I was cleaning up the grout. It was sorta pathetic. :(
I sorta slept in the next morn til 8am. LOL Got up and piddled around for awhile and finally left my room and did some more cleaning on the tiles. I wish I hadn't been so distracted as the murkyness on some of the tiles will be a b!tch to remove now but I was able to get alot up. Overall the tiled section looks HOT!!
After lunch my dad and I proceeded to start tiling the next section. My mom and sis got into the car to go shopping in Fort Smith. Hmmm :/ I think my dad and I were both sorta tired from the nite before and last weekend. We weren't nearly so industrious this time around. At one point we had to remove a section as we accidently put in a piece that wasn't the full size and got the pattern off. That wasted a good hour. I also had to run to Home Depot for an hour to get them to cut a few pieces of tile as the pieces are too long to be cut lengthwise in our cutter. HD was impressed that we had managed to cut any of it as it took them forever to get those 5 pieces done...literally the better portion of an hour.
I finally gave up on the tiling at 9pm which incidently was about when my mom and sis arrived home. They apparently had a nice day of bonding and shopping. So I'm happy about that as both of them were in good spirits when they arrived home. Yay for showers! Felt so much better after that. Then I went over to have dinner with some friends and home again to get to sleep for work.
I'm looking forward to a few days of rest before I have another go at this home improvement stuff.
