Okay I give... kinks and tropes?
I threatened to do this earlier, and it's my day off and I'm too hyper to write consistently, so here it is.
What are your Will kinks, your Will/Helen kinks, the things that seem to end up in your every Will or Will/Helen fic? It can be anything, no matter how small.
Here's some of what always ends up in mine:
* Will notices all the details, sometimes more than others, but there's always at least one passage where he gets all s. 1/Watson on me.
* Everyone hits on Will. I just noticed this one today, but it seems like at some point in pretty much every fic, there will be a reference to someone hitting on him. That didn't turn up in Apologia because it was an episode tag, and only vaguely in Chambord because I was just stretching my wings. But it's all over the one I'm working on now (Weep not for the memories) and the uber-long one (Road to Damascus) and apparently it's all over my meta because the UN liaison ALWAYS asks for his number (I think I secretly wanted to ship the hell out of that).
* Even though Henry is really Will's best friend, somehow all of his friends scenes end up with Kate and they have the best relationship. I love Henry, man, so much, but Kate just lights me up. I wonder if she ends up being his best friend because I'm scared of screwing Henry up by not quite getting his humor?
* Kate/Declan/Henry. It's like my secondary ship or something. And it's always Declan wants more, Henry seriously is just having fun with all of it, and Kate is like FEELINGSSUCK and talks to Will about it. Idek.
* Will doesn't hate Tesla anywhere near as much as he pretends to and actually considers him sort of an ally in protecting Helen from John. He always turns up in a mention of "the team" at least somewhere.
* Will has all the meta about Helen. At some point in every fic, he ends up enacting or speaking some small part of MY THOUGHTS ON YAOI HELEN. Actually, he ends up with my meta on everyone. He's a profiler and a shrink and he KNOWS ALL THE THINGS, okay? Maybe not all the things, but I love my Will SMART.
* Will belongs to Helen, full stop. It may not be happening. He may not know it. He may not be in love with her and it may be more platonic, but there is a thread in nearly every fic that Will is hers and that's why she can trust him. (I blame Batman and Nightwing for this.)
