[gyo-meta] sam winchester: he dreams the future and there's always blood

commodoresexual asked me to do this meme for Sam Winchester (yo_innerdemons) as I play him at Gotham: Year One. Unsurprisingly, it won't fit the comments.

1. What would your character kill for? What would they die for?
Sam will kill when killing is the necessary thing to do: to save a life or lives - e.g., Gordon, Ruby; to give a merciful death - e.g. Madison; to serve the greater good - e.g. the people who died during exorcisms, ghosts; to save himself, and any time, really, he deems it the best of bad options: he would've sacrificed the virgin girl to save the others.

Sam will die to protect his own - Dean, Lindsey, Molly, Tessa, Josh, Dad, Dinah, Cas. But he's much less reckless with his own life than he used to be, and much less willing to let himself die to prevent apocalypses. He won't be pulling a Spike, thanks.

2. What would they refuse to do under any circumstances? Why?
Sam's ruthless enough that he'd do just about anything if it was necessary, but he'd never ever ever hurt Tessa or Josh. There's no power sufficient to get Sam to abuse his emotional authority over those kids.

3. What do they dream about?
Dean dying. Over and over and over. Jess, sometimes. Lindsey. Occasionally prophetic dreams but not so much anymore. There's an awful lot of blood in Sam's dreams.

4. What’s their biggest fear?
That he'll wake up in a motel room staring at pictures of the Trickster, Dean'll still be dead, Cas will be a lie, and Lindsey will never have existed.

5. What single object would they be most hard pressed to part with? Why?
The cord around his wrist from Dean's amulet, when he buried him the 101st time. It's a vow.

Barring that, the Colt. Duh.

6. What is their fondest memory?
(Sorry Dean and Lindsey.) His first date with Jess. For the first time in his life, he felt smart, sexy, hopeful, good, and filled with potential. It was the first time he let himself really believe in the fairy tale.

7. What is their worst memory?
The day he almost shot Dean himself just so he wouldn't have to wait and ache and be surprised with how he died.

8. What or who was were their most significant influence? Expound.
Dean. He might've spent a lot of his life trying to be someone his dad could be proud of, but it's Dean who he tried to be. Dean who he worshiped, and followed around and idolized. Dean who he loved beyond any rational measure. Proving himself to Dean and saving Dean the only thing that could've lead him to starting the apocalypse.

9. What do they believe makes a successful life?
Right now? Not starting any apocalypses.

10. What makes them laugh?
Molly being brash about sex. Molly generally. Cas being oddly literal. Dean being happy, really happy. Dad and Dinah being worse at discretion than him and Lindsey.

Lindsey's wit. But more often, Lindsey makes him smile. Deep, true, real.

11. What are their religious views?
He believes in God. Probably a more Old Testament version. While he's nominally Christian, Sam's an Old Testament kid. He wrestles with God and Angels.

12. What is their greatest strength?
His intelligence.

13. Do they have a fatal flaw? If so, what is it?
The Trickster would have him believe it's his love for Dean. That may or may not be true. I think his expediency is his fatal flaw. Sam is very ends justify the means, and when he's acting on bad information, he does bad and stupid things.

14. Who is the most important person in their life?
Oh. This is a very hard question right now. It has always been Dean, and if you force a Sophie's Choice on him, it will be Dean. But if he can only save one of Dean or Lindsey, he'll save Dean and spend the rest of his (likely very short) life hating himself for failing to protect Lindsey. But the problem now is that there's Tessa. And Josh. But Tessa is first. And while she might not be the most important to him, his relationship to her is possibly most important. He might just save her first.

15. If they died, who would miss them most? How would they die?
Oy. Dean and Lindsey can fight over this one. Personally, I think Lindsey would miss him more at this point, in the day to day. When you're used to having someone else's scent layered over your own, used to turning in bed into their warmth, used to them being the first and last thing you see, losing them is devastating. Dean's already lost Sam in a lot of the ways he's used to having him. OTOH, ask me which one would survive the loss better and my answer's Lindsey. Long term, Dean would miss him more. So. Toss up.

God. Sam will die putting someone else's life before his own. Doing something that needs to be done that he's convinced only he can do. Chances are decent, he's wrong and there was another way, but he'll probably achieve his end.

gyo, sam winchester is smarter than you, meme
