wtf thesis!
Today at thesis meeting, I told Derek I hadn't had enough to do this week. Our meeting went like this.
Me: update, things are going well
Derek: you should run a second experiment.
So now by the end of March he wants all of the following:
1.) finish running experiment 1 (get 30 dogs or so, I'm currently at about 20, perhaps more like 17. So assume I need 13).
2.) analyze, make results for experiment 1
3.) upload all experiment 1 video (hours of ugh), compress, clip, export compressed clips.
4.) recode all choices in said clipped videos with self blocked to make sure we agree.
5.) write discussion for experiment 1 which should introduce experiment 2
6.) figure out what experiment 2 is.
7.) pilot experiment 2
8.) begin running experiment 2.
9.) write results, leaving space for experiment 2.
10.) finish intro drafts, methods draft, etc.
So today I finished inputting my data and have 21-24 dogs to use depending on the analysis and how I treat failing the controls. My data is a mess. They like right gaze but not left gaze, left points but not right points, and have different prefs in point right gaze left than in gaze right point left in terms of which cue they follow.
Daaamn you dogs. Wrrrgh. I'm tired too, and stupidly stayed at Reed tonight on the basis of the above to-do list being terrified and having to be back at 8:30 and being tipsy and wanting cuddles or sexings but having only thesis. Bleeee. On the other hand, I get to run two experiments. Zzzz of joy!
