Years ago, I picked up a neat find at a local used bookstore called
Flame Wars. It's a collection of scholarly essays regarding "cyberculture" (for lack of a better term) put out by Duke University Press.
The second essay in the whole thing is called "Techgnosis, Magic, Memory, and the Angels of Information," by Erik Davis. You can read an online version of it here, if you haven't already come across it in your internetting:
http://www.techgnosis.com/index_infoangels.html I'm a bit tired at the moment so, basically:
1) I think this book is a great and interesting little thought-provoker overall, this essay as well as the others.
2) Thoughts, reactions, etc on this essay in particular? Or even the whole book, if it turns out this is a ridiculously well-known piece of literature and you already own it.
3) Oh, and also, hello, I'm new. =P
