Hello~

I've lurked by here a number of times, and now I've finally gotten around to joining. :P

I have a general question, too!

How are your computers' general health? I'm curious because some of my friends seem to be amazingly anti-technological in aura; one reinstalled her OS nearly weekly due to all the crap that somehow flocked to it. (I remember this because she made near-weekly re-requests for music, to replenish her collection. ^^;;)

And yet, in seven years of internet-at-home over two computers of frequent (constant, for my Sakkun) use, I've managed to acquire exactly one virus (on Sakkun; the virus was immediately quarantined by my anti-virus program) and a handful of adware on the Pentium-II, the majority of which had come with CD-installed programs and didn't do much of anything anymore.

I do virus (AVG Free) and spyware (Spybot S&D) scans just sort of whenever, and I leave Winpatrol running to pick up on file associations and as a shortcut to Services and the like.

If only my wireless network card, router and modem were so cooperative. ^^; The router is very tempermental. My dad once tried to change the LAN to secured, but then the router started alternately claiming that either the wired or wireless connections didn't actually exist (but it usually allowed them to connect to the internet and the acknowledged part of the LAN anyway), and it was so weird that he just re-unsecured it.
