I was having a discussion with some friends about internet entities/potential deities, as dictated by pop/net culture, etc. I tend to pick up my deities from popular culture, comics, literature, etc., just as much as "classical" sources-they are all stories, after all. :)
We've come up with The Lag Monster (known to old skool MUDers everywhere), Neuromancer, Wintermute...*thinks*, it's been a while, but I am sure we can find more. Oh, Warren Ellis made up an entity Echo Grey that, if she caught on enough in the minds of folks, could probably manifest.
Hmm...oh! What's-his-name from the Lawnmower Man...name not coming to me.

I think they're packet loss creatures like pacman... blipping around in a jerky fashion to munch packets..at least, that's what I picture.. munchmunchmunch
