Camera Magick

So I want to tell you all about a technopagan trick… or rather cybermantic as I’ve heard them called recently… although I don’t think I like the word mantic…. Or the word pagan… Hmm… whatever… here’s how it works.

All you need is a digital camera, a point of light, and a purpose. Turn the flash off, fill yourself (and therefore your camera) with your purpose, and take a picture of the point of light. The result will be something like the picture above. Play with your camera to get optimal results. I find I do best with a shutter speed of about one second.

What is created is a sigil that is literally a record of the vibration (And therefore the purpose) of your camera and body at the moment of the picture. It’s the most direct method of sigil creation I have come across.

Do with the sigil as you Will. I tend to just use the camera as a way of acquiring the shape, and then I transfer it to other places by hand. But the fact that I can post the first example, with no information lost, to god knows how many viewers seems like an advantage.

Experiment with your points of light as well. At a distance a computer screen in a dark room will probably work. I tend to use stars, or city lights. For you traditionalists a candle charged with your purpose may be just the thing.
