After waiting for a better job, one finally presents itself. An Installation Technician for Directv. Driving around, home base my home, making great pay. So what would be the catch?
Training is in Orlando, which means daily trips to and from Orlando until I pass the training. Then I get to train directly under a lead technician until he feels I am ready to be on my own. Then I get my own van. Not that bad right? Well, I have to buy all my own tools for the first day of training. Reasonable you would think, since that they provide a van, gas card, cell phone, and the ladders. Considering how much Directv makes, they can cover tools.
So now, I have to spend roughly $300 for tools and gas money to get to training. So far, this job is sounding like that one sales job that you had to buy the entire set of knives.
Ok, so I have to spend money to make money. Can kinda see it. Now here is the part that really bothers me. My schedule revolves around their schedule. Even if I am going to school, they don't care if I have class at 5. She literally told me that Directv doesn't care if we go to school.
Another aspect of the job, my main office is in Orlando. Once a week I have to go into Orlando for a tech meeting.
Is the job worth it?
