Well, it's better than Feb 01, at least
I was informed of my departure date from Elysium today. February 15th. I have 20 days to find a new place to live.
Of course, the odds of getting a place are miniscule in that time frame, especially if I'm not working yet. Hopefully I'll get the job with Bay Optical this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed. At least if I have a job, I won't feel guilty about crashing on my brother Terry (if possible) or my little sister Dee (again, if possible). I can't stay with my older sister Tracey, that's a given. Since she lives in Pickering, the commute to and from the downtown core would be ridiculous (again, assuming I actually got the job at the Bay). Of course, if I am working, I may be able to arrange an apartment for March 1st, which means I'd only be crashing for two weeks or so.....Let's hope.
Of course, if I'm not working by then, staying at Terrys or Dees is kinda vital, since job-hunting in Pickering is about as bad as it was in Keswick (I stayed at Traceys two years ago, for a month, when I moved out of my ex-wifes place). Hey, there's a nice little touch of symmetry for you....When I broke up with Lisa, I moved out of her place and ended up crashing at my sisters house starting Feb 13th, and now I'm being kicked out of here on almost the same day, two years later. I'd laugh, but it's not funny.
So, I've got a decent lead at 7-11 (though my hopes for that are fading, it's been two days), and a VERY good feeling about the Bay (which I won't have any more clue about for another two days). In addition, I have feelers out at Auto Trader (Tracey, Dee and my aunt Cathy all work there) for any position, even a menial job on the loading dock (it might kill me, but a paycheck is a paycheck). I'll be phoning Terry this weekend, after I go to the Bay, see if he's got any leads in construction (that requires a solid commitment, so I won't ask until I know I'm not working somewhere else).
Hmmm....Feb 15th is a thursday....I think I'm going to have to ask for a two-day extension, until the17th, since there's no way in hell I can get Terrys truck during the week.
