She could be anywhere in the world, it didn’t matter, it always came down to Rupert Giles, at the end of the day, just like the fleeting moments of the end of her life, she thought of him, so it was only natural she continued to think of him, he was still her passion, her ultimate desire.
In her dreams, waking or sleeping she imagined meeting once again. Even before she put her head to pillow, she pulled out her leather-bound journal and in her elegant script, she would write letters to him she would never mail, thought she would never utter, desires should could never act upon and passion that would never be allowed to kick up it’s heals and howl.
If anything motivated her, it was the love she still carried for her ‘England,’ it was a love beyond time and space, beyond understanding and for her one that survived the grave. It gnawed at her, like the hunger of a starving child, relentless, and all of her actions revolved around her either attempting to avoid or embrace her love of him.
When her dreams were hopeful, she knew he was the reason she was back, that destiny had a made a mockery of death, and meant them to be together. When the dreams were dark, she knew this was yet another revenge Angelus had found to plague her, for death with out Rupert was easy, life without him, hell.
In her sleeping world he held her in his arms, lips burning he kissed her to bliss, or else those same lips called her evil vile things, things that even though she didn’t always remember, her pillow was wet afterwards.
Days when she felt she wanted to end it all, she would see his smiling face in her memory, and it made her step lighter, easier. Days when the wind was warm, the breeze fresh and it kissed her face as she imagined he would if he were infront of her, days that put a bounce in her step, his smiling face would dance across her mind’s eye, and she would walk faster, faster as if to him, and she had hope.
He was her hope, her passion, her desire.
