So, Cybermancy wasn't all that good. I was hoping for a hacker novel with mythological overtones, it ended up a very solidly mythological story that borrowed a couple words of hacker jargon, complete with basically nothing on hacking, a fairly obvious lack of understanding of how computers, networks, and hacking actually work, and basically came across as an author trying to get more market share. I was pretty thoroughly disappointed, I could have done better, even given the same base concept. It did have its moments, however, like when Eris (aka Discordia, patron deity of hackers) suggests in all seriousness that Tisiphone, one of the Furies, really needs to get laid.

On the other hand, Snow Crash was amazing. It's a story about the basics - hackers, pizza, and the mob, complete with a katana-wielding überhacker named "Hiro Protagonist". (That's short for "Hirohito", and it's pronounced just like "hero".) It also dives into mind-hacking, Sumerian mythology, and the Tower of Babel... and somehow manages to make it all make sense. The writing style is amazing, halfway between Gibson's Neuromancer and Douglas Adams - if you like cyberpunk, or computers, or are just looking for a very fun read, I highly recommend it.
