I will never like the epilogue. To me, it was trite and ruined the whole point of the series, which was about darkness and uncertainty of whether good would win over evil. It would've been way more bad ass to leave it the way it was before the epilogue, which was way too "And then everyone had a Brady Bunch family and there were smiles and puppy dogs forever because with Voldemort gone there can never be any bad ever again ever ever ever in the world." It trivialized the series and everyone's struggles so much to me for her to make the whole series about them having to pop out a thousand babies and all fall into domesticated lifestyles. I was so excited about the idea of Harry on his quest to be an Auror!
But actually, the main reason I will always hate the epilogue and the last two books is the Tonks/Remus bullshit and the fact that JKR paired off my two favorite characters when it made absolutely no sense for either and ruined them both, and then killed them both off, solely for the purpose of them creating Teddy that she could very heavy-handedly make into Little Orphan Harry of the next generation. Only this time, because everything's all puppy dogs and rainbows with Voldemort gone, orphans don't have to be sad because Harry's there to take them in.
Once again, totally destroying two awesome characters, and trivializing absolutely everything they were on their own and had become, just so she could break out her hormonal mother flag.
You know, you're actually the first HP fan I've spoken to who didn't hate the epilogue with a passion. Good to know there are some of us out there who were able to see good in it because I certainly never will XD At least this way it didn't ruin the books for you.
