No matter which side you are on, you have to agree both sides define a set of talking points they want you to believe, and then they repeat them over and over. This video shows both candidates, in all three debates, saying the same things over and over.

So step one of understanding politics as it is practiced today is to understand the concept of framing a debate. Presenting the facts, or a portion of the facts, in a way that leads the audience to the conclusion you want them to reach.
