Jeez, I have a lot to cover......
Holiday Monday was the Shota festival at Ching park - I spent most of the morning setting up a super-ghetto snowboard run that consisted of one rideable obstacle, and a run-up and landing that was maybe 2 feet wide. The sponsored dudes from Atomic that brove all the way in for Barrie took one look at it and left - thankfully some local dudes came out and rode it. After that debaucle (and with sopping wet feet) I got to organize and judge the Uptown Throwdown skate contest, with teh help of Ted and Dan, the other two instructors there. That was a little hectic, but more or less went well - We gave away tons of stuff, and stoked some kid out by giving him a new World Industries complete. The demo with the West 49 flow riders was next - I was lucky enough to participate. While I don't have a hope in hell of ever landing a backside nosebluntslide on the hubba at Ching, I got a few licks in - my style. It felt really cool to hear the announcer (and subsequently the guy who runs our vendor for the day, Symbiont) go "And a 360 Boneless on the pyramid from Brandon, one of the instructors here with Parks and Rec" The only three downsides were 1) the weather - overcast windy and chilly all day. 2) The crowd - It might have been the weather, but they were so dead and unmotivated it made me sad. 3) BMXers - These asses were barging around the park like they owned it - during the contest AND the demo - two of them nailed me on seperate occasions, one in which my board went flying into a random skater's ankle! Anyway, there was a BMX demo at the dirt jumps after that, and everything kinda wound down - there's some footy on Brad's site from that day if anyone's interested.
Most of the rest of the week was a flurry of work and packing, except for Friday.
Jill's prom - I shaved, like everything, after 2 1/2 years, the goatee said goodbye for a while. I also got a haircut, and wore a tux, yeah, I know it's a funny mental image - I'll get some pics up when I can. Anyway, went over to Jill's friend Brittney's house before hand. Jill looked absolutely gorgeous - her dress was this vibrant pink, but it wasn't gawdy by any stretch. Once again, pics when I can. Brittney's parents got us a stretch SUV limo for the thing - and by us I mean Brittney, Jill and I, and 8 other people, only one other one a guy. The prom was good, dinner was tasty - salad, then penne pomodoro and Tortellini Alfredo, Chichen and vegetables for an entree, and Tartufo for desert. The dance was fun - did a jig, breakdanced, and even had a little slam-dancing pit going for one song - oh god that was great. Jill and I did some impromptu Salsa dancing, and there were moments where I swear the DJ played the same songs in the same order as the DJ at my prom years ago, lol. Anyway, the whole thing wrapped up just before one, and I got in at around three, which leads me to Saturday...
Moving Day - I had to get up early and go to work (skate lessons), but as soon as I got back to what wasn't going to be home much longer at around 12, all hell borke loose in a mad rush to get everything prepped before my cousins showed up with the moving van at 4. We got all the major furniture moved yesterday, and we wrapped that up by about 7:30. All that's left right now is an unfortunately large ammount of stuff in the basement, plus some random knicknacks, but hopefully it'll all be squared away by the end of this week. The new place is abso-fucking-lutely gorgeous. It's massive! It's clean! It's in civilization! and I have my own room for the first time since I was 14! I honestly cannot express enough how amazed I am by this house.
Anyway, that's pretty much the update. Good night to all and to all wet dreams!
P.S. A happy 17 months to Jill....wow.....
