(no subject)
I'm spending all of christmas with my dad for the first time in... evar, i think? it's actually going surprisingly well, considering... we went to visit other relatives briefly last night, and my 7 yr. old cousin ((who is BOSS)) got a cool present and yelled "PWNAGE" across the entire room... p r o b a b l y the best moment of my life, his incredibly straight-laced robot conservative parents looked like someone poured hot egg nog all over their motherboards, they had NO IDEA how to react =p. i just cracked up laughing... he's a cool kid.
it was good to see my grandfather too, he's one of the few that i can stomach for longer than the compulsory 2 hours that we see each other every christmas eve.. unfortunately, he's slipping into the funk of alzheimer's, which is a shame.. the world is losing an amazing man, with an incredibly big heart. But even so, it was good to see him, and my grandmother... though i spend most of the time telling the same stories over and over again, as they've forgotten what i've said 10 minutes before, it was still a happy moment, a bit of a connection.
upon leaving, my dad and i hunted down a sushi bar that was still open past 8 on christmas eve ((success!)), and competed for who could handle more wasabi throughout the meal, drank some wine, put lights on the tree that we had snagged from an empty lot a few hours before ((that's right. we know how to do christmas, man.))
this morning i awoke to the announcement that we are going snowboarding for christmas ((MAJOR WIN...)), far better than any mountain of gifts under the tree... so now i'm chowing on some pumpkin pancakes ((and i thought it was all over with egg nog cinnamon raisin french toast!)), getting my gear together, and hitting the slopes... all in all, a pretty 1337 christmas. hope you all are well <3
p.s. MY DAD JUST CAME IN AND TOLD ME THAT HE'S WEARING LEATHER PANTS ON THE SLOPES... WHAT A CHAMPION XD
-also bringing our "SKATEboard" ((a longboard with ice skate blades that we put on in place of wheels.. yes, because we're cooler than you.))
