3.02

My thoughts on 3.02. Obviously, don't look at what's behind the cut if you don't want to be spoiled for this episode!

Before I say anything else, OMG RUBY IS A DEMON. As in, EVIL. Yay!!! Sam has an excuse to kill her off now!!! *dances*

Okay, so, I don't like her. But I don't hate her either. That scene in the diner annoyed the crap out of me, with her knowing more about Sam and his family that he does. However, finding out that she's actually a demon totally turns that scene around, and it makes more sense how much she knows about Sam. I think she knows more than she's saying, and I do believe that she can/will help Sam, but she sure has an agenda of her own. Working with demons doesn't tend to turn out so well. The fact that she can help Sam save Dean will make the offer very tempting for Sam, and I think he's going to have to end up taking it. He hasn't found anything else that'll help so far.

The writing wasn't as bad this week. Thank you, Sera! I liked Dean a lot better. He still irked me at the beginning there, what with wanting Sam to go all the way to wherever they were just so he could get laid, but the Dean we know and love showed up once the case turned up.

Dean and kids is always awesome. xD I think it's so cool that they did changelings, too! Dude! They're hitting the mark on good ideas for evil stuff this season so far. But, um...what's with the excessive goriness? Like, really, seeing so much of that saw through the back was totally unnecessary...

One thing that really bugged me about this episode (and the premiere, actually) is the lighting. It is way too bright. It doesn't fit the tone of the show at all. My roommate, who is a casual viewer, is the one who brought it up, and she was really annoyed by it. She doesn't even watch the show that much, and she noticed and hated it. It just doesn't fit. Sure, the dark lighting makes things hard to see sometimes, but it's the show. Plus, it makes it scarier!

So...hm. Better than last week, but there's still a little work to be done to get the show back where it belongs.
