So the other night I have this bizarre dream entirely in Japanese. I'm sitting seiza-style in front of an extremely fierce-looking samurai, who explains to me that I have to use a pair of chopsticks to transfer all of the sashimi from the table between us onto a plate to the right of the table. If I were to drop any of the pieces of sashimi, though, I would have to perform seppuku. (Yes,
seppuku. The punishment doesn't really fit the crime, ne?) Then he hands me a pair of chopsticks and grunts, "hai, DOUZO!" With trembling hands, I begin to pick up the first piece of slimy raw fish...and immediately wake up.
My reflections, upon awakening:
- "I think this means I'm getting way too stressed out about Japanese this semester."
- "But hey, I was actually *dreaming* in Japanese! I must be getting more fluent."
