I finally got a chance to go through my mail that had piled up while on vacation this weekend. I got a letter informing me that my endometriosis specialist was closing his practice due to his poor health and to call if I wanted a copy of my medical records.
Today I called to get my medical records and learned that Dr. Hank actually passed away 04/22/11 from Cancer. I didn't know he'd been sick.
I was shocked and then sad settled in. I knew this man for 10 years he performed my first 2 surgeries and consulted me countless other times. He was the last face I saw before falling asleep on the operating table the first 2 times. He always met me with a smile and reassurance.
Had I got around to having children it was Dr. Hank who was going to deliver me.
I always teased him about being late, but when it's be late for me or miss catching a baby, you go catch the baby.
At some point I'll have to research and meet a new specialist, but that day isn't today.
I'm very lucky to have had him as a doctor. He was the best endometriosis guy on the west coast. He always gave me his full attention and took great care in answering every question I had as well as those of my loved ones. My heart goes out to his wife and two girls. <3
