Once a week...

I sit down, wipe the dust off my compy, and update.

Terry is doing better. He is awake. He speaks in a soft whisper, but that's to be expected after over a month of tubes down his throat. He's even walked with the aid of a walker around his room. His doctor plan to move him out of the ICU and into a regular room this week. Everyone is very happy and Terry just can't believe he has missed so much of his life.

I have read my third and fourth books of the year: Love and Friendship by Jane Austen and A Room of One's Own by Virgia Woolf (more to say on booking_it perhaps). Both of these novels were read for a class. I am doing really well this semester. I have finally implemented some good study habits that I've always told myself I should try. Besides my usual annotating I am going a step further and writing a bit on what I read after completing the reading assignment. This means I am very ready when to write when papers get assigned.

This weekend I wrote my first paper; it is on Woolf's A Room of One's Own. And in the vein of trying new things I always said I should, I sent a solid draft off to four trusted friends and critics. The assignment was a one page essay on a block quote of my choosing. One page essays are difficult. So far I have gotten one favorable response and am hoping to hear from the other three soon. I am feeling confident and look forward to adding the final florishes tonight.

I have been playing less Norrath than I would like (school and keeping up with the house makes my days busy), but my Barbarian, Lexy, is still growing strong. Soon she we be level 29 and from there she is two short levels from wearing all kinds of cool warrior specific armor that will give her nifty bonuses. She is quite the tank and her critical hit auras just give her insane damage potential; she is a lot of fun to play.

I am cooking a lot these days and really enjoying it. I am getting even better at it and enjoying what I make even more than usual. I finally got my butt out to Bed, Bath, and Beyond with changinganswers the other day and bought basting brushes (is that what they are called?) so now I can finally make my tea cakes (in the end you brush them with a citris juice and sugar mixture).

That's good for now, I suppose; I need to go get ready for work.
