I read my reading assignment to my aussie company, rather than squirrelling away in my room I figured what the heck. It was recieved quite well. I read "A Scandal in Bohemia" and "The Yellow Face" both by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
It was quite a relaxing evening. I made Ghirredelli chocolate brownies with Bailey's Irish Creme. I had them in the oven while I read the first story--"A Scandal in Bohemia". After the story Olly set up the Settlers of Catan board and the four of us enjoyed a bit of brownie, a splash of port, and some awesome gaming. (I won by the way: "Victory is mine!") After the game, I read the second story. It was fun to have the three of them guessing as to what was going to happen whenever I paused for a sip of water.
I was quite productive yesterday, and having read them those two stories I am prepared for class on Monday. I have been resting for a couple days now. My back was seriously killing me earlier in the week; I think the stress of company while I'm in school finally caught up with me. I had seriously been running myself ragged. I have spent a lot of my time in bed reading and plan to continue that until I have to get up for school on Monday.
Today I have more reading I want to do and a midterm I want to tackle, but it should be some fun--I get to write an essay on Rochester's poem "Signior Dildo." The reading in some classes is just plain enjoyable. :-)
Ooh, I almost forgot to include everyone's favorite line from last night's reading:
Save for the occasional use of cocaine, he had no vices, and he only turned to the drug as a protest against the monotony of existence when cases were scanty and the papers uninteresting.
aussie visitors,
