Sunday night sometimes turns out kindly.

There are just those times in a student's life when she will be bombarded with a thousand things happening at the same time, a thousand things surrounding her -- the philosophy readings from last term, someone's copy of Good Omens, a comparative anatomy textbook, library books, scratch, scratch, scratch paper, a battered Bible, steno notepads which have run out, photocopies of dissertation for the thesis project, a box of three different kinds of paint, half-consumed sketch pads, bookstore groceries, and the one file she can't find, lurking somewhere underneath everything else.  And the lap-top's tinny speakers whining out a lonely cover of a rock song.  Someone's instant message.  An open window for reading manga.  A tab open for livejournal.

I'm sitting on the floor of my room, where I am knee-deep in paper and have a gaggle of orphan-like school requirements looking me in my mind's eye, , and waiting for attention like they're waiting for soup -- and thesis groupmates are e-mailing and texting and some prodigous prepubescent Korean pounds out a piano cover of a Lady Gaga song from an open Youtube window -- and I have a crick on my back for an hour of rummaging and snot in my nose from all the dust --

and it's one of those non-Chrisitanity related things which give me peace, I just realized.

Thank you, God, for moments like this.  :)
