I can see Ron being a little weirded out by Harry being gay, but... not asshole homophobe like you see in H/D fic. There is a big difference. It might take Ron a bit to accept it, but he'd accept it.
Now, as far as the WW's stereotypes and prejudices... note, the WW doesn't have the same ones the Muggle world has. Sure, there is prejudice based on Pureness of Blood and some looking down the nose classism from the Malfoys, but we don't really see racial prejudice or sexism.
The WW is very, very old and old fashioned, BUT taking a lover of the same sex has been accepted in our own history during Greek and Roman times and also in the upper classes. So, I wouldn't find it out of place for the WW to be fine with homosexuality, even though they have horrible prejudices with regards to other things.
Regarding Harry being gay... well, I am pretty sure he will end up with a girl in canon. However, I see sexuality as being a bit more fluid. Harry strikes me as someone who *could* be gay. Fanfic is about playing with the possibilities. So while there are many, many things in fanfic (not just talking about slash or romance even) that would simply never happen in canon, that doesn't mean fanfic writers can't play around and write about it in a realistic way.
