Yeah man, I'm with you there, it does depend on the person. I don't think it does much good to draw anything along gender lines--I've known some dramaqueen boys and some downright stoic girls, I'm sure you have too.
Science and society have always been really closely linked, right? So it makes sense that one would take an idea from the other and run with it. I think the whole emotion=female=bad is a feedback loop that's been tossed around from discipline to discipline for a looooooong-ass time, and those that want to will always find some sort of science for it. Hell, when they wanted to keep women out of school they argued that we were dumber just because our brains are generally physically smaller.
Right. Because elephants and whales and Andre the Giant are/were fucking geniuses at algebra.
And I fully believe that our brains are wired differently, on a basic level. It just makes evolutionary sense, right? I've heard before that there are structures in the female brain that are larger than in the male, like the bit that connects the two lobes (name escapes me), allegedly making for better multi-tasking. I'm sure there are things like that on the male side.
I really like it that way. I love that we're different, complementary pieces of the same puzzle, it's a really exciting/inspiring thought to me. What bugs me is when different becomes bad, and when people assume that different means one is better and the other worse. We can't seem to have "different" without valuating them differently and that makes me ergh.

Lmao!
I completely agree. I see more of the 'manly' type of man up here in Alaska than anywhere else (and I've 'been around the block' ;) My hubby told me once that it is physically painful for him to cry, it's not a release, it hurts. (course I couldn't tell him that it was the pain that made him cry in the first place... he just doesn't understand, lol) Men up here are very old fashioned, they beat their chests and protect their women to a point that I almost have to roll my eyes at their caveman-like syndrome. (almost!) I can def take care of myself (I broke my hubby's nose once) but most people up here still have that males are bigger/stronger/smarter mindset. *Shrug* I'm not too worried about it though, they'll come around. Best part about Alaskan boys is they listen to logic. We just need more headstrong women up here to show them what's good.
