Wow. I'm feeling a lot better than I was earlier in the day.
Overall, I've been getting very stressed in general. So much so that I occasionally have to stop what I'm doing, retract into myself, implode, scream to myself and release, then shudder. There again, I don't think it's been a pretty time for most of the people I know.
I've been letting all my work pile up on me. Of course, no-one's fault but my own... I've no choice but to just catch up with it as best I can. It's all I can do.
At least the C++ project that I need in is getting done. Now that it's getting done, it's nowhere near as insurmountable as it was. It just needs a few more hours work. We have a token extension - from friday evening to monday morning. Given that we probably need to be at college computers to get it done (I know I do - need a delicate balance of gcc on cygwin and eclipse)
The software eng project, I'm feeling so behind on it, it's not even funny. Again, my own fault. While the others were working, I fell behind no end. Of course, I could help with little snags that the others were hitting, but didn't make any progress on something that should have been tweaked and packaged into production code from my little proof of concept code that I did weeks ago. So, I feel like I'm letting both Cheryl and Trevor down.
Don't even get me started on the scheme stuff, but that's not just me. Most people are lost on that one. Switching from a declarative programming style into a functional one is a shift that is quite difficult, and is not one that can be made easily without a good amount of help... which we aren't really getting from our lecturer. All I know is that anything in brackets is a function unless it's a list, in which case it has a quote in front of it. Also functions are just as much data as any other type of data, and you can do mind-bendingly funky things with it if you're up to the challenge. That's pretty much our intro to scheme - now I've to write an interpretter. That's been lying rotting over the break too.
Also, the less mentioned about the soc, the better.
Oh, and there's an oral exam next thursday that I'm not too pushed about.
So, being in that kind of dump wasn't good. But at about 7 o'clock, I just hung around science talking to random people that I know about all kinds of odd and twisted things, while disturbing others no end. I was still feeling rotten, but it was good to be with friends, and I missed my bus. So, I walked back in the direction of home with Jack and just chatted about all kinds of crap. By the time we got back to his, I felt a whole keg-load better. I was smiling and having some fun.
I needed that. Thanks Jack!
