If ever I refer to conversations that only my parents and I could have, here's an example:

Outside in the garden - me taking a break from work
My mother lecturing me on who I could ask for help with this problem (well not lecturing, but I still want her to shut up

My dad offers me some crackers and raw veg to munch on. I'm pissed off and not hungry, I refuse

My mum's still wittering on about who I could ask to solve a particular problem I was having

She offers the same crackers and veg

My Dad: Nah.

My Mum: No, I wasn't offering them to you, I was offering them to -----

My Dad: Yeah, I already offered. It seems it's a cracker-free zone.

Me: Yeah, I should have been born black

My Mum: Yeah. You know that club... Could you ask someone in the Dominion? Remember that girl from Canada who worked in the INTO? Could she help?

I look at her and am about to ask... Then I change tack...

Me: No, she wasn't all that technical.

My Dad: Where did you get Dominion from?

My Mum: "I should have worn black". It made me think of that club.

Me: I said I should have been born black!

My Mum: Why? How would that help?

My Dad and I: Because it's a cracker-free zone.

My Mum: What's that to do with being born black?

My Dad and I: Cracker a derogatory term for white people.

My Mum: Where did you come across that?

My Dad and myself: Scrubs.

The conversation continued for a while... But you get the jist. At least it stopped her talking about the project for 5 minutes while I tried to have a break.

random, final year project
