explosions in the sky?

Look, I used to work in a photo lab. I know that mistakes happen.

But there is no goddamn excuse for the way they chopped up my negatives from last week's fireworks. It wasn't just one mistake. It was a mistake in every single row of the negatives.

(Yes, I know I'm the last person in the world still using film. More on that later.)

And apparently they printed the negatives to the CD after they cut them, so that some of my pictures are half-one shot and half-the next one. Some of my best shots.

I might be able to piece them together in a photo editor. Might. But it is so frustrating to see a shot and realize that the bottom half (where the fireworks reflect off the river, the part that makes the set-up really striking) is nowhere to be found.

This isn't even a good shot, but seriously. What the fuck.

I want my money back (okay, my dad's, since it was his treat), and I kind of want the head of the tech who processed the roll. Like I said, I've done this job. I'm not just ranting about shit I don't understand, here. Cutting negatives is one of the easiest parts of the damn job.

So fuck this shit. I'm ordering a shutter release tonight, and next week I'm borrowing one of Mom's good digital cameras for our last fireworks outing of the year. That way, if I fuck it up, I'll have nobody to blame but myself.

rants, picspam, fireworks
