our aspirations are wrapped up in books

Sweet zombie Jesus, how did I get so much stuff?!

My mom's driving up tonight to pack some of the larger less-used furniture items into the van. This will a) make sure that the remaining stuff will fit into the combination of Grandpa's truck + my car and b) make sure that the piano isn't bouncing around in the back of Grandpa's truck for four-and-a-half hours at the end of the month. So I'm trying to clear off the horizontal storage coffee table, TV table, etc. so that she can pack them up.

Guys, I have. A lot. Of books. This should not surprise anyone, least of all me, but the sheer volume (heh) is ridiculous. I filled three boxes and it...didn't really make much of a dent. Sure, I cleared off the shelf. Go me! But just from the desk chair, I can see American Gods, Dead in the Family, Allies, and my Bevington Shakespeare. And if I turn around I'll find the bag full of books I bought at a local booksale last month.

Also, yarn. I have a lot of that. Fortunately it's light and it compresses very nicely--but I'm not ready to pack it all up yet. What if I need bright yellow yarn at some point in the next two weeks?! You never know! It could be a textile emergency.

I should not be going to Florida next week (Saturday night-Wednesday afternoon). I have known this ever since I looked at my schedule and went "...Wow, I have to finish my practicum and move out of the apartment by the end of July!" But it's a family thing, and I like my family rather a lot, and also we're going to Disney World. That pretty much settled it.

Oh yeah, and I'm writing this entry on my shiny shiny new desktop computer. Yes, I still have the laptop, but it's heating up to the point where it is more of a tabletop now. Anyway, HP had a really good deal, and I had some student loan money, and now I have a computer. I still have to copy all my files over from the laptop, but I am really digging the desktop thing. I logged on to Warcraft last night and I could see forever. Apparently the game looks really cool when you can move the graphics off the lowest setting. :D

Right. Enough procrastinating. To Wal-Mart for Pledge, paper towels, and an excuse to get out of the apartment for twenty minutes or so.

moving, books, apartment, family, computers, vacation
