Okay, you know what, Reds brass? Fuck you. That's right, all of you. First you traded Griffey, which...okay. He never really did live up to the hype, he was made of mostly glass, and you could tell he was getting tired of being on a losing team.

But Dunn? Adam Dunn was classy in a way Griffey never was. He signed autographs. He was good to his young fans. And you know what else? He hit some fucking home runs. In fact, he hit more than Griffey did, and I think he liked being a Red more than Griffey ever did, too. We didn't seem to get much in trade for him, either--a pitcher (woohoo) and some players TBA, which...seems kind of stupid to me.

And the worst part is having to go home and hear Captain Pessimist (aka my dad) muttering about how they were always going to trade Dunn, and how they could have traded him sooner, and how he was a shitty fielder--to which I do not agree, but it's kind of useless to argue with the man. (I will agree with my dad that Corey Patterson "ain't worth shit in a handbag," although I do seriously question the provenance of that metaphor. Have you noticed how they don't even put up his batting average most of the time, because it's under .200?? I'm sure we don't have another Jay Bruce hanging around in Triple A, but there's gotta be someone who can hit the ball.)

And in conclusion, fuck it. I'm just going to watch the Red Sox.

rants, family, baseball
