one for sorrow, two for joy

Our Latin professor has figured us out. Instead of the four questions over the English readings, there are sixteen questions, and every single one of them is on Latin grammar. [EDIT: The assignment is also half again what we're used to as far as length.] Maybe it's time I got the fourth declension down...

This is what I get for trying to learn Mando'a, isn't it?

Speaking of Mandalorians, I have been reminded quite strongly of why I don't hang around TF.N anymore. I wanted to see what people thought of Odds, since it'll probably be two weeks before I can procure a copy of it, and so I swung by the Lit boards to see if there was a thread. And what did I find? Twenty-five pages of numbers wank. Featuring insults slung at Ms. Traviss and the coining of the word travissty, which would be a brilliant pun if it weren't so infuriating.

This is Harry-Potter-level fanwank, over a fucking number. And of course you know that the explanation Karen offers--which I think is perfect and frighteningly relevant to modern society--will never be enough for them. Did these people just not watch the movies, or were they so busy counting clones* that they didn't notice that Palpatine fellow taking over? Grar. Some people should just be bludgeoned with their own keyboards.

On a happy note, Gilmore Girls and House tonight. On an even happier note, Jess. I wonder if I have a blank tape around here anywhere, because if the previews are anything to go by, this is going to be one of the ones I go back to when I'm in a bad mood. Like now, when I have Latin and thesis reading to do. Oh, have I mentioned I'm meeting with my thesis advisor tomorrow? And I've suddenly realized I have nothing to talk to her about? Yeah. GG had better be good tonight; I'm going to need it.

*You know that Counting Clones has got to be a band in the Star Wars 'verse.

rants, latin, star wars
