I took Neo to a handling seminar this weekend. I figured if we want to win a Best in Breed at the National Specialty next year we need to up our game. It was freaking awesome! Joy and Vaughn are excellent instructors. It was all positive re-enforcement and food motivated training. Neo's posture is already way better, he doesnt wilt any more when I put him into a stack or when the judge touches him. We learned tons, who would have thought that showing is so involved. The main difference between a Best in Show dog and a dog that isnt placeing I would say is handling. I had no idea. This is a dog sport, most of the dogs that are winning are trained to look good. So there's hope for us. lol
There we only a few things that I didnt like too much. One it was WAY too crowed, especially on Sat. I think there was like 30 dogs there. So there wasnt allot of room to work. And two, it was all food motivated. It would be nice if they could talor their method a bit for dogs that are more toy motivated. Other then that though, it was just awesome. Im already thinking of going to the one in Feb.
