So I’ve never really been a Slasher for Supernatural.
Other shows? Hells to the yes! I usually ship same-sex couples. It was something that I…I dunno, I saw Nick and Greg from CSI as an adorable couple. No cannon to it? NO PROBLEM! Cause I really didn’t care.
But Supernatural is the first show I’ve seen where I didn’t look at the to main males and go ‘That, together. Now.’ Partially because they were brothers, and incest holds very little appeal for me. But also, I couldn’t see Dean gay. It just did not work for me. I tried, I did, but It just…Nope. Never clicked.
But this was how I discovered RPF.
Because in my mind, they are original stories set in fantastic places and times that use the actors’ faces as the one thing that fits with the Supernatural. And what faces they have, friends.
My first RPF, which will hold a special place in my heart for all time, is the college verse by aleia. She doesn’t write fic anymore because she’s got book deals, but it’s such a wonderful, layered and dramatic story that now, whenever I’m down or need some good reading, I go back to it. It has pornz but not until later in the fic, and it’s pretty vanilla. I love it though.
Then, of course, spn_j2_bigbang came around, and I read all of the fics I could get my grubby hands on.
One of my favourite squishy fics was Reddish Gold and Caramel, by belledewinter. It’s one of my absolute favourite fics for RPF, because honestly… It is the cutest thing I’ve read in so long. Just funny and smart and so well done. Read it people, it’ll brighten your day and make you think about doing a random act of kindness.
I’m writing my own RPF now, so I’ll give you fair warning. I’m really nervous about it, but hopefully I’ll be able to get it nice and trimmed and prettied up for everyone who cares to read it, sooo…. *Crosses fingers* Here’s hoping!
