Bloody hell, there's someone else on LJ with periodic paralysis... I've left a comment, though the journal hasn't been updated for years - there are so few of us, and so many people with the condition don't know anyone else who has it. Always seems worth saying hi.
I got to look after a friend's dog over Saturday night, much to Kato's disgust. The guest dog (Lucy) is mostly collie, only two years old, and mad as a box of frogs, so she was belting around the sofa and the table in great figure-8s while poor 13 year old Kato sat there being geriatric and surly and generally resenting being upstaged, and growling when she tried to lick his head. They both coped pretty well though, probably better than I did - just watching her made my head spin.
Now I want alsations.
