I was on my way home on the bus when my cell rang and I figured it was Rick - answered quickly (because I feel so uncomfortable talking on the phone on the bus - I always speak quietly too I'm not one of those rude loud-talkers) and it was 911 calling to ask if I was having an emergency. WTF? I said no? And she said that my phone was dialing 911. I said really? I thought it was on keyguard. That's really odd. So she asks for my name and I give it. But when she asked for my address, I said WAIT A SECOND. How do I know it's really 911 calling? I don't feel comfortable giving out that information. So she said she was calling from the Summerside PEI 911 centre. Odd. I said I'm in Dartmouth NS. hm. So anyway, sorry about that I can't believe I did that etc. and we hung up. As soon as I hung up of course the keyguard went back on because it WAS on. So I checked my dialled out calls and there were no 911s. I checked the number that called me. Didn't recognize it. Could have been a Halifax number.
So when I got home, R said I should call the cops and so I did. I called the non-emergency number to ask if the number that had called me was indeed a 911 centre. The woman there told me that my phone could have dialled 911 even if it doesn't show in the call log and the key guard is on WTF? And she said that it couldn't have been a misdial because they just click on return call and don't actually dial themselves. So she gave me the number for the RCMP in Summerside and told me to call them. So I did. They answered "911 emergency" SHIT. I said it's not an emergency! Sorry! Halifax police told me to call you! So Sorry! (GEEZUS). She patched me through to Summerside Police. Finally the woman there said that yes, the number I gave her was indeed their office and I told her that my phone had not called and that my keyguard was on and that I had been worried it was a scam but now I'm worried that someone is really trying to call 911!!! eek!
How crazy. First of all, I sounded like a complete LOON. But really.
So the only thing that we can figure is that whoever had our cell# before us, their phone may be dialling 911 because apparently cell phone that aren't hooked up can still call 911? WTF.
That is some crazyassshit.
