(no subject)
two incredibly exciting things are happening for me in the very near future.
1. I AM GETTING A HEDGEHOG!!! i have had a specific thing for hedgehogs for a few years now because they are SO GODDAMN ADORABLE and a friend happened to come across some guy who had one that he didn't want to keep, so he bought it from the guy and we verbally flailed about how exciting it all was before he actually got it. and then my friend decided that he didn't have enough time to give it the attention it needed anymore so he's letting me have him!!! dslfjasdfjsldkjfljgrij i can't even. i need to think of a name for him too! aahhhhhh :,D
2. my boo elly (oceansofnoise) and (hopefully) my boo tahlia (lucidity) and i decided over max brenner on saturday night that we want to drop everything and go to america before the end of the year. i have been thinking about it for months, i've got the money and i've got the time, i just didn't have anyone to go with until we all decided that this is what we want! and not to mention that the dollar is so good right now, it's almost 10c in our favour and compared to australia things are super, super cheap in america so we might as well make the most of it and go while the exchange rate is so good! tahlia may not be able to get more than a couple of weeks off work/uni so she may only come for part of the trip but elly & i are thinking of going for about 5 weeks from mid august to mid september. i am actually SO EXCITED about this, i can't even explain. for ages before i went to to europe i had this feeling inside my chest that was pulling me there, and pretty much as soon as we got back i got the same feeling for new york. i don't know what it is, but i just NEED to go there.
so far we're planning on going to new york & san francisco (my two favourite places from last time i went to the states) as well as boston so i can go to lowell, massachusetts and weep at kerouac's grave, seattle, new orleans and orlando so we can go to THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER. HOLYFUCKINGSHIT. i can't even express myself coherantly. i know it's only a couple of months away so it's pretty late notice to be planning a 5 week overseas trip but i don't care. i have wanted this desperately and i need to go while the weather is warm, which excludes the end of the year, and i just can't wait until this time next year, so we're going at the end of summer/start of autumn when it should still be all lovely and warm everywhere. oh man, my heart is swelling thinking about it.
i will probably ask again when i know exactly where we're staying/what our time frame is like, etc, but if anyone has any suggestions of things to check out/do/see/places to eat/hostels/anything AT ALL i would love to hear it, and of course if anyone wants to meet up just let me know because i would love to!
