we arrived on the 9th to a beautiful warm evening and a home cooked meal by elly's family friend anne-marie who is kindly letting us stay with her. the flight was really long and neither of us got a considerable amount of sleep and i was particularly exhausted from having cried the whole afternoon before we left. i LOVE flying but unfortunately i didn't get to enjoy it that much because i was so exhausted and upset about leaving but eventually i managed to perk up for about the last six hours.

the next day we decided to take it easy so we didn't wear ourselves out too much because we were already jetlagged so we caught the bus to oxford street with anne-marie and went shopping along there. all the shops are SO BIG and have at least three floors, it's insane. topshop is just ridiculous and if everything was half price AND in australian dollars i probably would have bought something. i did manage to find a really cute nautical playsuit in the sale section of urban outfitters though! but the best shop was definitely primark because even though it was SO BUSY there were actually things i could afford in there, haha. after we had lunch anne-marie took us to the selfridges food court where we tried the courtesan chocolates (a mystery flavoured sample, lavender, passionfruit and lumi which is made with sun-dried iranian limes), the AMAZING peirre hermes macarons and i bought a single serve of lucky charms because i couldn't resist (and a cupcake and a giant raspberry meringue as well... oops!) we then sat in a small park nearby to have a bit of a rest and anne-marie decided to go home while elly and i walked along regent street and charing cross road and to picadilly circus.

i had salted caramel, elly had rose and anne-marie had jasmin tea and we shared them. :) they were SO SOFT and amazing.

please note the glitter on my cupcake.

harry potter house badges at hamleys (this giant toy store on regent street).

today elly and i went to broadway markets which is nearby to where we're staying so we walked along the canal to get there which was nice except that there were about 200 joggers and bike riders every 3 metres. the markets were really nice and i had a spinach and cheese galette (a crepe made with buckwheat) for lunch. it wasn't that late by the time we were done so we decided to head out to camden markets as well to get more things covered in the one day. jesus christ those markets are intense. everywhere you turn there are more markets and we got lost/separated so many times, haha. and even though we went to about a thousand markets we didn't even really buy much today. and i think we're going to the brick lane/colombia road/spitalfields markets tomorrow. not that we're going to spend this whole trip shopping of course but the markets are all highly recommended and they're mostly only on on the weekends so we figured we'd check them all out this weekend and then do the sight-seeing stuff during the week or when we're back in london again towards the end of our trip.

my new playsuit and stockings. :)
