it doesn't look that great cause i took these photos at the end of the day after we'd gotten home.
on saxx's birthday we decided to skip the museum and save it for another time because it's a bit depressing for a birthday.. so we wandered around the city, ate cupcakes and went to a couple of army surplus stores where i bought this shirt and the patches (i sewed them on last night). saxx bought a shirt as well but his is more fitted and mine is way oversized so i can wear it over the top of men's t-shirts and things like that. but now we have to co-ordinate our outfits and make sure we don't wear them at the same time and look like an incredibly lame matching couple, hahaha.
flowering tea
new laptop case. i was going to buy it myself but saxx bought it for me as a "thanks for driving me everywhere" present, haha.
i went to the fruit & veg markets with my mum yesterday and bought a whole bunch of socks including two pairs of these bedsocks. excuse me for sound like a freak but they are so soft and amazing they feel like marshmallows for my feet! LOVE THEM.
a new op-shop opened up right near me so i went there and found these.
and this. and it looked really familiar and i figured out that i'm pretty sure harriet has the same one! it's always so weird when you find matching things or something that someone else that you know has at an op-shop because really, what are the odds?
saxx and i both decided to get dressed up for his birthday, and about 5 mintues after we'd arrived in the city some guy yelled at us "you're beautiful and you're handsome!" he was probably intoxicated in some way but the gesture was nice, haha. we were also both wearing really bad shoes for walking around all day so our feet were KILLING us. the army surplus stores were definitely a highlight though. one of them had a whole lot of actual things from WWII including SS coats and rings and badges with swastikas on them and nazi helmets and everything. it's so bizarre to actually see those things in real life and to wonder where they've been and who owned them. it's also kind of awkward cause saxx wants to collect all of these things but how do you do that without looking like some ridiculous neo-nazi who actually supports what they did? :/
saxx and i have also started watching season one of the x-files. i've been thinking about watching it for months now but i didn't really know what to expect having not watched it as a kid. i just remember the creepy theme song and one episode that i saw were people had cockroaches underneath their skin and cut at themselves with razors to get them out. that wouldn't bother me today but seeing that when i was 8 always made me scared of watching the show. but we're about halfway through the season and it's pretty obvious to me now that there's nothing to be scared of at all, haha.
