i went op-shopping a couple of times in the past week with saxx and also with elly.
saxx actually bought this camera but he left it with me. it's really cute and small and has a self timer!
i found a deck of tarot cards with a book and mat for $4!
i spent all of yesterday listening to the beach boys and falling in love with them, hahaha.
after wanting a pair for AGES i finally bought some doc martens. i couldn't justify the expense before but since i'm going to europe i figured these would be great, sturdy, comfortable shoes for walking around in all day every day for two months because most of my other shoes would probably fall apart. plus i got them second hand on ebay for about half of what i would have had to pay for them new. they look super shiny in this picture as well but they're actually the matte kind.
saxx bought me this from work because the cupcakes reminded him of me. :)
and he also bought me these pens for journalling in europe as a thank you because i took him to a midnight toy sale (yes, we are that lame, hahaha).
my popular penguins & tote bag came in the mail.
and i FINALLY bought myself pokemon soul silver with one of my market research vouchers.
salted caramel brownies and lcms/marshmallow rice crispy squares.
i've got a few market research appointments made for next week for which i will get $110 worth of coles/myer vouchers which, as i found out when i bought pokemon, can also be used at target and kmart as well. money is tight at the moment, i haven't gotten any shifts at the call centre for about a month (i HATED it there anyway, so whatever) but i've got a lot of expenses to cover before going to europe, i.e. doc martens & pokemon (check), 35mm film, moleskine travel journals, birthday presents for saxx (almost done), travel insurance, etc, while i'm also supposed to be saving money for the holiday in general. i feel bad not being able to put money away each week but i need to cover these expenses within a certain time frame so i just have to grin and bear it and once i've paid for all of it i can get back to putting more money away. i just wish i could cover some necessary things for my holiday with the coles/myer vouchers. it's weird because you could probably find just about anything in the combination of shops that i can use the vouchers at but i can't think of anything useful for my holiday and i'd feel guilty just spending them on stuff i want instead of stuff i need right now.
i was also told last week by someone in the know that something corporate, my FAVOURITE BAND EVER (tied with the used) is most likely going to be playing at soundwave early next year. this band has been on hiatus since 2004 and i've never had the chance to see them live, but they just put out a greatest hits and have been playing a few shows here and there so there is the chance that they will be part of the line up. i honestly can't even express what this means to me. if i actually got to see them live i would basically cry my face off. i've seen the singer's current band, jack's mannequin, play a bunch of times before and when i saw them in 2008 he played a something corporate song and i cried SO MUCH. jesus christ. and it's also an open secret that blink 182 are going to be headlining the festival, in which case saxx will be as keen as i will to go interstate and see blink and something coporate as many times as we possibly can!
