Happy birthday

I swear this started as a drabble but it kind of got away from me. It isn't exactly what you asked for so, just in case, I kept the receipt. BTVS/SPN Xover, Dean and Cordelia, a chance meeting by the side of the highway, July 1999, 2,056 words...

This is a lovely story; both of them are more than they seem. And each presumes that the other is a civilian (and thus they're not being honest), but seeing a bit more of an edge there...
Dean is such a horndog, but recognises caution & sadness - and Cordelia's so wary after her bad experiences, but appreciates a fine man nevertheless. I was kinda hoping they'd get it on, because that would be damn hot, but it works well as a brief encounter too.

I was kind of hoping they'd get it on too but I rewatched Prom and both halves of Graduation Day (it's been a long time since I wrote BTVS and I never did much) and Cordy at that point is, as you said, way too wary to indulge in a little roadside nooky even with Dean Winchester.
I'm glad you liked the way it turned out.

"I thought you weren't the kind of girl to go into sewers?"
When she turns, Dean sees there've been some changes over the last couple of years. She's in a lot more clothes but he can see there's a lot less tan and the look on her face suggests she's been... tempered. Beautiful brown eyes widen, first with recognition and then in surprise as she glances down at the crossbow he's cradling. His eyes widen a bit in turn; she's carrying one just like it.
He's about to say something about it being a small world when she raises her weapon and yells, "Behind you!"
