Those are all very interesting points. Especially:
"Because this time..." Dean sounded smug. "...God's learned everything he knows about humanity from the Winchesters."
Also:
Dean thought of Castiel like a brother
I'm not so sure about that. I mean, yes, he says so, canonically, and I think since Dean doesn't have many friends, anyone willing to (somewhat) risk their lives and spill blood for Winchesters is automatically family. But I don't think that Castiel is anywhere near the level of family that Bobby is, that Sam is. It's like a hierarchy of family, with Sam at the top, then Bobby and maybe Ellen (surrogate parents), then everyone else.
Still, though, Castiel did learn about humanity from the Winchesters... man, what a messed-up view of humanity he must've gotten! And he's better for it, obviously.
Oh I agree totally with your hierarchy of family! Sam first, then Bobby, then... well, Ellen and Jo were they still alive but unless they spent time together off screen they really weren't together much... then Cas.
Hee! This is awesome! thank you so much for writing it. I particularly love Sam's totally in character inability to not over-think and weigh everything--except Dean. <3
