It suddenly came to me this morning what Hawaii Five-O reminds me of. Early Stargate SG-1. With the banter and the snark and the attraction and the TEAMINESS! We've got the leader with the mad ninja skills and the outsider who calls him on his shit and the pretty girl who kicks ass and the strong silent dude with all the answers who doesn't get his shirt off often enough.
The plots are in primary colours, the ex-wives aren't cliche, and Hawai might as well be Chulak as far as most of us are concerned.
