As a kind of an addendeum to the fic I posted earlier, I'd like to share this moment from women's long track speed skating -- which I'm pretty sure I was watching on TSN since I tend to catch the later stuff on replay the next day.
While discussing the race just skated by one of the athletes from the Netherlands, Catriona Le May Doan (Cdn speed skating multiple medalist and current broadcast analyst) said, "...and her girlfriend, (name) who skates short track, is here to cheer her on."
Shot of girlfriend in crowd with EXACTLY the same weight given to the whole thing as if she'd been a boyfriend or husband in the crowd. And then on to more talk about the skating.
Now if only the guys could get that kind of who the hell cares who you're sleeping with coverage.
