Ron Weasley

This is one of my favorite descriptions of Ron Weasley. It's from "Tiger by the Tail" by thimble-kiss, a terrific HG/VK post-war story. While I'm not usually a fan of Hermione/Ron stories, I really don't like Ron-bashing. He's a likable guy, just not suited for Hermione. For that matter, I'm not really into any Weasley-bashing. Molly seems to be the one that takes the brunt of the abuse; I see her as a strong woman who loves her family (actual & adopted) deeply. As someone who has chosen to stay home and be a full-time mom, I can relate to her. Not that I have any problem with moms that choose to work outside of the home, I just don't want them to have a problem with those of us that don't.
OK - that got a little off track... :D I really just wanted to throw this description of Ron out there because I really think thimble-kiss has hit the nail on the head with who Ron really is. I remember reading once in a story where Hermione was talking about Ron and about how he couldn't be relied upon, because he "always leaves"; referring to how he would withdraw from Harry and/or Hermione when he got angry and how he left in DH. I don't really think that's quite fair to judge him that way, he was still just a kid and had kid reactions to difficult situations. I like to think as he grew up and matured, he would have outgrown that tendency. Mad Martha at marthas-library writes a lovely Ron in her stories. Be aware that she writes Harry/Ron stories; if you are OK with that pairing, her stories are some of the best (of any ship!) that I've read!
