I find it amazingly sexist in the sense that the highest-positioned woman (no pun intended on positions) was Uhura, as Communications Officer, like fuckwhat, that's so stereotyping women as PR and HR managers. And the lack of women. HOW MANY ARE THERE IN THE MOVIE? TONS - AS SIDE UNIMPORTANT REDSHIRT-ESQUE CHARACTERS. Either they're mums, or nurses, or just mini positions (the only other two chicks I remember in any position of notice was 'the forgettable white chick on Science station aboard USS Enterprise' and 'the Chinese lady on board USS Kelvin'. Or hot green Orion slave chicks.
Yes, that was the first thing I noticed about Kirk's crew too. Ah well, it's already written into Trek history so there's nothing much we can do about that now. Still, it's be nice if there was a nice balance of women in the series. *sighhhhh*
