Hi all!
What a coincidence, I just got back a couple of hours ago from my Orientation as a new hire at Target in Paso Robles, CA...and then stumbled upon this brand new community! This seems like it's going to be a friendly and helpful place. Which is good, since I'm a total newbie at working retail--I'm sure I'll have a lot of [probably dumb] questions for you all! :)
So anyway, I'm Sarah, and I'm a newbie Target Team Member. *waves* For the time being I'll be working the sales floor in Electronics while training to work in HR to replace the ETL-HR's assistant doing scheduling and stuff. Ours is a small-town Target, probably the smallest one I've ever been in, although in the past year or so they ditched the Garden Center and expanded the building into where that used to be to include a frozen and non-perishable food section. I'm still getting used to the thought of FOOD at Target of all places, because that end of the building had been where Electronics and Toys used to be since the store opened about 10 years ago! We have also just recently gotten a Pharmacy, Starbucks, and Food Avenue; our little store is finally moving up in the world, I guess.
Being a small-town Target, I know several people already working there, I randomly reunited with an old friend and another acquaintance in my 8-person Orientation group this morning, and everyone in this semi-rural area shops there--so I'll be seeing several people I know every day at work. Just knowing that makes it sound like this will be a fun job. I dunno, is it a fun job? I guess time will tell...but I'm a pretty optimistic person. :) Plus the ETL-HR is super nice, and she hired me knowing I'll already be away for 10 days in August when I go backpacking to the top of Mount Whitney!
